National headlines have recently reported the termination of health coverage policies for individuals and groups.  While some policies may be terminated for noncompliance with new federal requirements for benefits, coverage and premiums, other policies may be discontinued as part of normal business operations of the plans.  The Colorado Division of Insurance recently issued a statement about coverage termination which highlights carrier’s obligations to give timely notice of policy cancelations. The Notice also highlights alternative coverage options for individuals, offers assistance to answer consumer-based questions, and reminds the public to take advantage of Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s new marketplace for health insurance.
